STAND WITH THE UNPAID WORKERS OF BENETTON

Former Benetton workers demand what they are due

Benetton likes to present itself as a brand built on colour, diversity and social values. But for 28 workers in Croatia, the reality has been unpaid wages, lost jobs and silence.

When Benetton shut down production in Croatia in 2024, it forced the closure of more than 10 subcontractors who produced solely for Benetton for more than two decades. 28 workers are fighting back, to demand the compensation they are owed from Benetton – a brand they served with low pay and unpaid overtime for most of their careers.

These workers demand justice and they won’t back down. Their demands – that they are paid their full severance pay and the interest accrued around 50,000 euros of which is outstanding, and that Benetton work with local trade unions to protect workers in their supply chains.

Brands such as Benetton that claim to be socially responsible have abandoned the garment workers who make their clothes. Benetton must ensure the workers who make their clothes receive their full severance.

Jelica who worked at the Leonarda factory for 17 years is angry. She said this:

“All those years we worked for minimum wage, we had to work Saturdays, and overtime hours that were not paid. Then we lost our jobs overnight. We are not asking Benetton for much. We are just asking for what we are entitled to. We want to get what is ours.”

Benetton must ensure the workers who made their clothes receive what they are owed. Stand with these workers and send a message to Benetton today.
